There is a lifeline for any company that feeds and allows the company to breathe. This lifeline is generally called the Internet. The internet is a term of connectivity however, if you ask any Engineer or Information Systems expert they will go into greater detail on what exactly is involved with the use of the internet.
When you have a business that utilizes a server in your office or a data center with multiple servers, the employees depend on connecting to these servers to keep business running. As a host you have an obligation to keep them up and running. The daily use of something can soon be taken for granted, and upset
emotions are imminent when something fails or goes down. The question to ask is “how can we work to prevent the unexpected?”

When you use the Internet to view a website, use your cell phone to call a friend, or swipe your credit card at the grocery
store, a technological means of communication has taken place. Have you ever stopped and thought about what would happen if one of these means of communication was down or failed? Large data centers spend millions of dollars to protect their integrity and forms of communication. We challenge smaller businesses without this type of capital to pose a question to themselves “How can I create this type of up-time on a
budget?”

BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) is comprised of multiple High Speed data lines that conjoin together to one IP address. This means that you when you connect to DBC you are connecting to a single IP and based on your location and internet provider you will be routed via the best possible line for connectivity. There are more benefits to BGP than just speed; Reliability also plays a big role into this technology. About a week ago
one of DBC’s High Speed providers went down. Because BGP manages this communication so well, it moved our customers to another means of communications without a single drop on the customers
end. While the initial cost of BGP was great to DBC, but the cost is well paid for by it’s speed, reliability, and service that
can be offered to our customers.
